Antique British Infill Shoulder plane, Used

Maker:  Stewart Spiers, Ayr, Scotland; circa 1840-1900

An antique cast infill shoulder plane with ebony or rosewood infill by Stewart Spiers.  Length is 8”.  Size (sole width) is 5/8” – the iron is marked with a “2” on the back side.  There is no maker’s mark on the plane itself but the iron is marked with Ayr trademark and the wedge is marked with the Ayr location as well with the number “2”.  Aside from some metal staining and a stable crack in the lower front of the infill and some bruising to the wedge, very good condition – no cracks/chips in metal work.  Plane is fully functional.
