Scarce Bailey No. 27 1/2 Transition Jack, Used

$90.00

Scarce Bailey No. 27 1/2 Transition Jack, Used

Maker:  Bailey (later Stanley), New Britain, CT

A scarce 15” transition jack plane by Bailey/Stanley with a 2 ¼” iron.  This is a Type 14 produced from 1912 -1920.  The imprint on the nose is faint but reads: “PAT. 6.9.12, BAILEY, STANLEY RULE & LEVEL CO., No 27 ½”. The iron trademark is for irons manufactured after 1907.  The lever cap has a pebbled surface with the number 27 ½ cast into the back side. The literature suggests this a much less common variety of this plane. This particular example reflects normal wear from original use but overall is in good condition with wood parts in good condition.  Japanning of the metal surfaces is about 50%.
