Maker:  M.H. Webster, Detroit, MI; circa 1837-1858

A rare moving fillister plane by M.H. Webster.  Made of beechwood with inlaid boxwood wear strip (visible in nose view of plane).  Maker’s mark clearly visible on nose of plane.  An original owner’s imprint is on the heel.  All parts/hardware are original.  Overall very good condition with obvious wear to movable sole and bruising to wedge. Plane is fully functional (iron and knicker require sharpening/honing before use).  Pollak “American Wooden Planes”, 4th edition rarity rating:  2 stars (rare).
