Maker:  J. Atkinson, Baltimore, MD; circa 1829-1835

A rare antique American unusual brass handled wedge arm plow plane by John Atkinson.  Very good condition; all parts including iron are original.  Made of beechwood.  Minor bruising on wedge.  Two sliding wedges that fully secure arms at desired setting.  Plane is fully functional and can be used as originally intended (iron requires sharpening/honing).  Makers mark imprint is visible on nose of the plane.  Pollak “American Wooden Planes”, 4th edition rarity rating:  2 stars (rare).
