Maker: Way & Sherman, NYC, NY; circa 1849-1852

A rare antique American wedge arm plow plane by Sherman & Way.  Overall very good condition, with typical wear from use including bruising to the iron wedge, some staining on the skate. All parts including iron are original.  Plane is beechwood.  Plane is fully functional and can be used as originally intended (iron requires sharpening/honing).  Makers mark imprint is visible as shown in nose photograph.  Pollak “American Wooden Planes”, 4th edition rarity rating:  2 stars (rare).
