Maker:  Charles Reed, Utica, NY; circa 1843-1855

Rare antique American screw arm plow plane by Charles Reed.  Very good condition, all parts including iron are original.  Plane body is beechwood; arms/nuts/ are boxwood.  Minor bruising on wedge.  Screw arms nuts turn freely and fully secure arms at desired setting.  Plane is fully functional and can be used as originally intended (iron requires sharpening/honing) Depth adjustment is tight but functional. Makers mark imprint is visible on nose of the plane.  Pollak “American Wooden Planes”, 4th edition rarity rating:  2 stars (rare).
