Maker:  J.L. Wayne & Son, Cincinnati, OH; Circa 1857-1877

An Extremely rare American tongue and groove plane by J. L. Wayne & Son.  Made of beechwood.  Very good condition with several end grain cracks on nose and heel of plane; some minor bruising to the wedge.  Irons are original to the plane.  An owner incised his initials into top of the plane.  Plane is fully functional. Maker’s mark is visible on nose of plane.  Pollak “American Wooden Planes”, 4th edition rarity rating:  4 stars (extremely rare).
