Maker: J. Starr, New Lisbon, Ohio; 1823-1854

A very rare screw arm moving fillister plane by American plane maker J. Starr.  Plane is fully functional (iron requires sharpening/honing).  Plane body and screw arms are beechwood; arm nuts are boxwood.  Maker’s mark visible on nose of plane.  All parts/hardware are original.  Overall very good condition with some minor dings from original use.  Screw arms in excellent condition and nuts turn freely.   Pollak “American Wooden Planes”, 4th edition rarity rating:  3 stars (very rare).
